Clostridium Botulinum

   It is anaerobic, rod shaped, non capsulated gram positive bacterium. It grows freely in badly preserved canned food and improper cooked food, producing a toxin causing serious food poisoning (botulism).
Toxins:
Botulinum toxin:
                It strongly inhibits the Ach release at NMJ causing Flaccid paralysis. Sometime used for muscle spasm.
·         No immunization is available against clostridium botulinum.
